Mr Jason Pereira : 3rd Dan

I started training when I was 13 years old. I have always had an interest in martial arts, it probably didn't help that my uncles were hooked on Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan flicks, so in one way or another it was always around me.

When I was growing up, I had major problems with racism that lead to me have low self esteem. I was looking was a solution to my problems in the martial arts. I had tried karate, Tai Boxing and had looked at many other classes but I couldn't find a class where I felt comfortable. It wasn't looking good until I found Mr Roy Bertrand and Focus Tae Kwon-Do.

I found a multi-racial, family based environment that immediately struck a chord with me. I was very lucky not only did I find a class of champions but also a life mentor in Mr Roy Bertrand.

Over the last 10 years I have been the English, Welsh, Inner London and British Champion. I have been an Instructor for 6 months, I teach children at the moment and it feels great to be able to make a small difference to my community and give children the same opportunity that made such a big difference in my life.
